Your support is urgently needed to help move forward key legislation that impacts Lahaina’s rebuilding efforts. Please see the important details below and consider submitting testimony before the deadlines.



State Bill – Senate Bill 1296 (SB1296)

Hearing Date: Monday, February 3, 2025, at 1:06 PM (Water and Land Committee)

  • Testimony Deadline: Sunday, February 2, by 1:00 PM

  • This bill will help streamline the reconstruction process in Lahaina’s National Historic Landmark District and adjust Special Management Area (SMA) permit requirements to better align with disaster recovery efforts.

County Bill – Bill 105 (Nonconformities)

Hearing Date: Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 1:30 PM (Disaster Recovery, International Affairs, and Planning Committee)

  • Testimony Deadline: Tuesday, February 4, by 1:30 PM

  • This bill addresses nonconforming structures, helping businesses and property owners navigate the rebuilding process.

  • How to Help: The agenda, testimony submission instructions, and sample drafts are attached.

While submitting your written testimony, you will be prompted to indicate if you would also like to testify at the hearing in-person or remotely via videoconference.
